The two persons that were sworn in for the Niger South Senatorial District are going to be suspended, our correspondent has gathered.
The crisis trailing the seat was compounded last Wednesday when Senate President Bukola Saraki swore in the second person for same seat.
General Mohammed A. Garba was sworn in on June 9 and Malam Mustapha Sani Mohammed was sworn in last week. The duo are both claiming to have won election under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
But a source around the office said arrangements are on for the suspension of the two persons. It said the entitlements meant for the seat have also been stopped pending the outcome of the legal tussle over the seat.
“Already they have been stopped from coming to the National Assembly,” he said. It would be recalled that senate president’s special adviser on legal and constitutional matters, Barrister Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi had said the confusion was caused by a lack of information from the judiciary.
Investigation is still on.
