The Muhammadu Buhari administration has
promised Nigerians change and it seems that this
change is already being witnessed in the
country's power sector.

The improvement in the electricity situation was
confirmed by the Permanent Secretary of the
Ministry of Power, Godknows Igali during a
meeting with Buhari on Wednesday, August 12,
2015.

Mr Igali told the President that power generation
in the country was 1,750 MW in 1999 and now
peaked at 4,600 MW.

In May, just before Buhari assumed office, Igali
said that power generation nationwide had
dropped to 1,327MW, a situation which was
worsened by the fuel crisis which was being
witnessed at the time.

The President also pledged, during the meeting,
to further improve electricity in the country »
adding that his administration had already
identified the critical problems in Nigeria’s power
sector and was taking appropriate actions to
address them.
